Hi guys and gals,

I reckon I'll have my 1st nova model ready for Traxx - the idea being that if you want one I take pics of yer car and a small deposit there and then.

I'll have an actual model with me (hopefully I can get there - found out I move into my brand new house on 5th Sept :x :D ) - and...

I think I can make the models remote controlled! So you can race them!

:D :D :D :D :D :D

For those new to this project - I'm making a scale model of the nova - bigger than 1:18 scale (average die cast model size) and with the help of interchangeable panels you can customise it to look like your own car.

The models are at present external parts only (no interiors) however that will change in 2004 once the prototypes are up and running...

Should be casting the 1st shells in the next few weeks - just need some more modelling material...

Here's some pics to date...its still in the clay stages and the "wheels" are just to hold it up - will nbe taking a cast, smoothing the shell so theres no bumps and adding all the fine details then. the shells dimensionally correct now and the windows are in correct places - just need to add the 1/4 panel in the front.

I should be able to make mk1 and mk2's (notice the front lights and bumpers are missing) - also plan to stick led's in the front and rear so you can have working lights...

ade mate that is a real talent. what will the car be made from? are you vac forming them or fibreglass or what

considered vac forming but too much detail and the vac wont pic it all up.

Am looking at taking a mould in silicone rubber then applying a gel coat top coat and lining with special modelling casting resin - not too thick - just enuff to make a nice skin.

the 1st master will be quite thick and reinforced with fibreglass so i can be rough and smooth it off, adding more detail to get sharp lines.

the subsequent casts will be thinner.

Eventually the plan is to have doors that open, boot and hatch opening, engine bay detail and full underside parts.

All hand made and assembled...

:D

Just takes ages - doing in spare time (along with 1001 other things at the mo)

how long have you spent to get to this stage? i reckon theres a fair few hours in that model.

make sure you don't do anything stupid like fall over the table leg and squish it lol (something i'd do lol)

Cheers peeps!

TBH I've not done much to it for the last month or so - what with selling my current house (had to keep it v tidy so no mess!) and then planning the stuff for the new house, changing job etc etc etc.

Prob spent about 2 months on and off (an hour here and there) - reckon It'll be finished in time for traxx though - at least one of the prototypes will be.

Hopefully will be radio controlled!
