Anyone know if these will work with 1.6 8v

I have 4 branch manifold and a blydenstein cam

Will these be too much? I will be getting the head ported and polished aswell

So just want your opinions please, just my mate has some fairly cheap but if not then I'll get 40's

Thanks in advance

too big, would get some 40s for cheaper, 45s are more suited to 20xes tbh.

Sphericals.

Skip the 4-branch unless it's a BTB.
Ported head with bigger valves
36mm chokes
30mm Full Radius Ram Pipes with a single large foam ITG air filter for the whole jobby.
Jetted to suit on a rolling road/dyno.
Job's a good 'un.

A blydenstein cam? I knew Bill fairly well, and didn't know he made cams........ ;)
If it's for road use - stick to hydraulic lifter cams. If it's for race use, solid lifters oh yes.
Nova Challenge rallycross cars had twin 45's, solid lifter Kent AST9 cam, and made about 175hp.

Now Philip. 20XE's - 48's or 50's, BD3/L1 cams, 300hp. Next question?

If you don't let it in, it can't get out.

what a load of ****e...45s for 20xe over 48s/50s, ive seen stage cars on mates rollers on 48s and been utter bollox and had to fit 45s. and if i was going 300bhp on a 20xe id be looking at tbs to start with not choked carbs.

You said stage cars.
I said race cars
Different cam profiles.
For a stage rally car - yes, 45's with 38mm chokes, or 48's with 38mm chokes - no bigger, you'll loose mid-range - the power you NEED for your application.
For a race car - 48's with 42mm chokes, probably good for 270hp with the right head/cams - 50's with 46mm chokes, should be good for 300-310hp.

While it won't be as driveable as EFI on bodies, it'll be a lot cheaper as a solution.

Don't forget, I come from a time before EFI was perfected, and learned how to make carbs work. These days people ignore them because they don't understand.
I'd give you a lesson in air velocity induced charge cooling, but I don't think it's worth my time. I'll keep it under my hat.
