ok,

CTS, coolant temp sensor (this can also be triggered by failed thermostat),
ICV, idle control valve,
SIIP, split in intake pipe,
or the idle screw needs playing with...

my old one did thisand was an air leak in the intake pipe between the manifold and afm

It can not be thermostat because theres a new radiator and thermostat fitted in march

there is always a chance that a thermostat runs cold.....

but if the car runs fine apart from that, then check everything else., pinch the icv pipe & see if the revs drop.. that means either icv or cts.

CTS always start reading low after a while as they fur up and don't heat up as effectively.

iv sort of fixed mine got it down from 1500rpm to about 1100rpm ... All i did was to be really hard on the cleaning ... i took the afm completely off gave it a good spray out with carb cleaner and i wipe down inside, i evan took the rubber pipe off and soaked it in red hot water with a bit of fairy liquid ;-) and again wiped that out ... try it and see what happens it will only take about 20mins
