Currently got a policy with sky for my nova (1.2 with 1.6 declared and other mods) so when i declared the mods it took it from 550 to 1250, now my engine decided to let go the other night and MOT is due next month so thought it would be a good time to take it off the road and rebuild it. Anyways i am buying a 1.2 corsa c tonight and wanted to transfer insurance, and was thinking my insurance should drop considerably, seeing as got quotes for 650 (with admiral), she said 'yes we can transfer the insurance over for a charge of £25' i said that was fine and asked her if my monthly payments would drop, and she said 'because both cars are in the insurance group, no'. How does that work out when they are completely different cars and the corsa is unmodified? Surely they are meant to requote it? So now going to have to cancel my insurance later and lose out on 3 months ncb :(

if you only have 3 months left, just pay the little extra, then get a cheaper policy for the corsa. surely an extra yers NCB is worth more than whatever you would be paying for these 3 months?

Welcome to insuring engine conversions :(

Anytime you want to change a car you will get raped for it.

Sky sorted me out, knocked 300 quid, so i feel a little better.
Should teach me for buying a blooming corsa c lol

Well i was at work (work lates) so got my old dear to ring up, and she said she asked them to make sure the price was right, and they admitted fault and knocked the money off, the 25quid admin fee ( that i was told i had to pay there and then ) was taken off so didnt have to pay it there and then, as i have no pennies till friday. Was abit of a pain, and although my mum will not admit it, she blatantly had a moan lol. I just hate car insurance and anything to do with it :/

Always the same in that scenario as they have you by the dangly bits for your NCB. When I needed a diesel for uni runs I paid £120 extra going from 1.2spi with 1.6 engine (group 11 or so on the old system iirc) basically track spec car minus a few bits to a group 5, 5 door, bog standard diesel 306

Edit: Actually I then swapped the same insurance to the TD nova and proceeded to crash into the back of someone, so I would have saved a fortune just cancelling the policy lol
