Long shot really,
come across an app on the android market that (when using a bluetooth adaptor) will give you all sorts of real time sensor readings, virtual dashboard, fault codes etc.
The app is called 'Torque' and states Vauxhall as compatible marques. But would ECU's from the mid 90's i.e. LET be ODB II compliant?
I have no idea so hoping someone knows :thumb:

might message him and see if it can work on are engines
How will you get a 20year old ecu to communicate over bluetooth?
Pretty sure xe's/let's arent ODB II compliant either, thats a late 90s onwards thing iirc.

Apparently buying some blue tooth adaptor does the trick (according to info and posts)
Probably some kind of thing that plugs into the diagnostic port. Obviously no good on a conversion though as no one bothers fitting a diag port lol

isnt it a couple of wires to wire it in?
Few guys on CCUK are using Torque, its a great app.

Would love to be able to use it too, somehow I'm not sure if I'd be able to. More research needed me thinks.
I'll go see if I can dig the thread up, as the question about earlier cars being compatible was asked on there as well
Dont think c20xe/lets used obd2, thought they used the older style OBD1 (10 pin iirc) diagnostic plug in. And the OBD2 has 15/16 something pins in the plug. I think, may be completely wrong lol

This! Only post 95 vauxhalls had the OBD II, So I think thats when they stopped doing XE's? Either way, You won't find a XE/LET with OBD II.
Even post 95 cars with 'OBDII' arent fully OBDII compliant lol
Infact lots of post 2000 cars arent either :(

:(
Ahh remember talking to someone about it not long ago, glad it wasnt a dream lol
wasn't this an american led thing?? so stuff sold in the states had it first, then everyone else later on
initially yes, but they rapidly fell behind in tech/protcols once the europeans got in on the game.
iirc it was some sort of govt legislation led thing so that a car could be repaired at any garage with a reader, without having to pay hiked up dealer prices!!!! even our wagons have it now...
Thats block exemption, that was a euro idea.
Yanks wanted 'good' emissions for California which pushed a lot of the OBD regs initially, and then europe found more that could be done with little effort lol
isn't all californias clean air legislation just about the rush hour traffic in LA though? as the place is in a natural bowl & the pollution stays there...
and yanks live in their cars.....
