If your on about the CCM one???.....
Its a good fit, covers the whole tailgate not just the recess, which is good because a) you don't get ripples or lines where the filler is and b) you only have to bond it on and filler round the edge.
I've just finished doing mine and i'd say it took about 5-6 to gett it looking something right. Then another 2 hours to get it perfect.

intreagued... so its a complete panel that runs across the bottom 1/2 of the hatch removing the inset bit?

How does it look along the top join where the hatch angles towards the window?

Is it angled and you just smooth it there and along the edges and bottom?

easier than welding...

if its thin it would be quite easy to blend in (but maybe a bit flimsy). if its too thick you'd spot it a mile off. maybe fill the hole beneath with foam?
