nova gte/gsi shafts (they have 22 splines on the inner cv) and mk2 cavalier 1.6 inner cvs provided that with the saab lump the gearbox is still located in the standard position and get 15 posts and fire some pics up mate were abouts in donny are you did you space frame the front end?
i run 22 splines on my phase 3 let with no problems

22 spline shafts can take a good beating and mk2 Cav inner ends

gearbox in exactly the same place as it would be when converting to redtop or c20let, used nova mounts for that and had to modify and strenghten the o/s chassis leg then make my own mount :thumb: , all in and working just struggling with shafts, anybody know anyone with some gte,gsi shafts for sale?? been told nova diesel shafts could do the trick, true/false???
True and there are some on ebay!
Prob want to go with big block shafts those Saab engines produce serious power

22 splines will be fine I've got a print out for my let for 306bhp when it was in the calibre and I run 22 splines I used to run conversion shafts and broke 3 short shafts (tapered shafts) only problem I've had wi the 22s is I managed to shear both outer cvs in the hubs at pod once but it's regularly been used on the strip and that's the only time it's happened
I agree there good up to 500 bhp on standard internals to but I'd really recommend big block shafts the gte/gsi ones won't be up to that power they'll snap like carrots

I've posted a link above to his thread there 139.99 for equal length you will also need 2 hubs 36.95 each and a cav midle shaft you will need hubs wi the lmf ones too not just shafts mate

got the hubs already pal, how u gu bowt conecting the cav with big block shaft, does it have the support bearing on it or sumat?
Not sure how you'd be fixed with the equal length shafts on a Saab engine might not have any where to mount the carrier bearing if you fit the bigger hubs just stick cav or astra gsi or similar cvs and your away get them cheap on eBay I got some and have no probes at all with them about 30 quid each Was a little while ago though

He centre shaft Has a support that bolts to back of the block minght be worth checking that it will bolt up wi the saab lump befor buying the shafts but im sure the saabs also run the centre shaft arrangement vectra v6s have them too equal length are better for eliminating a bit of torque steer

yes the saab did have the shaft support bearing fitted for sure because i cut the f***er off it wo part of the alternator bracket but cut it so i cut fit the normal shafts, didn,t know if you could run this set up on the nova tho, could be sumat worth fitting back on tho (if i can get 1) to elimanate abit of that dreaded torque steer :) need more posts so i can get pics up n show you, something special , am i rite in saying this has never been done????

You might need a custom driveshaft as the block is bigger than the c20let engine which means the equal length shaft might be longer, if you get the saab equal length fitted just measure how much you need between that and the outer cv then i can make you a shaft to suit!

il have to see if the saab equal length shaft fits the vauxall gearbox first cos im not if it does or not? if not im back to square 1 again  , cheers tho il let u know
pics of the saab engine in a nova please :)

If not i'm sure i can sort out a shaft to go between the box and the bracket!

thinking about it dont think the equal lengh shaft would work as the saab engine sits alot further over than the c20let so could be a problam, could make the shaft far to short. think normal big block shafts are the only option. can you make these? cheers

Yes i can do those too

it may be the firs buy claire and ste porter on here are building one at the minute but there space framing theres

it'll either be space framed the same as his 4x4 project or ran with a subframe if we cant modify the chassis leg safely/strongly enough.
am planning on keeping the saab gearbox if we can figure out a way to mount the rear gearbox mount. apparently some saab's ran with an lsd so will be aiming to keep this.........am planning on using a corsa c epas and corsa brake servo as well.
had a little chat with nige p from mk3oc at pvs, hes given us some good advice on the wiring to get round the speed sensor and immobiliser issues and apparently does plug and play looms for vx-saab conversions and does ecu remaps too.
it will be done before christmas....................even if i kill us both doing it lol

if your gearbox is in the same place as with a let, whats the issue with equal length shafts??
i think its the fact the engine is wider thus the shaft mounting to far out giving a silly angle for the cvs to work in!

just run normal shafts as to be honest having been through about 15 f20 clusters myself at 280 brake, chances are that your shafts will far outlast the box any way mate.
