View Full Version : TD FMIC bore size
Hi guys I will be fitting a front mount to the derv before the summer ends! Just wanted to know what size pipe to go for, would 2 1/2 inch be a over kill? and also do you guys normally cut the inner wings out and the lower valance to fit the pipes?
I have a good idea what I wanted to do but didn't want to jump into doing it before the size was confirmed, at the end of the day I want it to gain a bit more power and not be lagtastic lol.
Cheers Dan

well it all depends on the inlet/ outlet sizes of the cooler :p
id go about fitted a gsi rad, and a frontera intercooler
Nahh I don't want a even smaller rad, I don't mind cutting the inner wings. I am looking at 2 1/4 inch coolers I think the turbo has something like a 1 1/2 out let so shouldn't be to far away, been looking at mondeo and transit coolers but worried about the headers cracking again lol.

I split and old transit one on mine, but tbh it was almost dead anyway, still got my evo 8 one back from when i salvaged mine in good nick, but just cba to fit it... suppose i shud pull the finger out lol

thats why i cba fitting mine, its on 3" pipes but from the tub its 1 1/2" and i cant find a reducer to suit without putting 2 reducers together, which will look a bit poo imo
I think I will go for a 2 1/4 inch kit then :) cheers windfreek

i had one of them £80 ebay pipe kits, the alloy walls are only around 2mm thick, the one nearest the turbo, started to melt lol
I would use stainless anyway, would the cooler be ok, surely its better than a pressed together OEM cooler..
