I bought it as i had a tigra for 4 years and spent abit of money on it in that time, but alot of rust on the car made me think about wat to do next as there were holes in the floor and the arches.

looked good in its prime lol. I didnt want the parts to go to waist selling them cheap or even selling the whole car cheap so thort about getting a standerd tidy nova to put everything on.
Iv been locating the parts over the last few months to put the engine in and a few other bits id like to do all in 1 go.
The angine is stripped down at the mo as im rebiulding it as its out of the car will be easier, plus geting the head ported.
So after my holiday next month, hopefully i will be able to crack on with everything.

Still loads i want to do to it but every thing works. I didnt have much faith it the wiring as wenever i try to wire sonething up ushaly takes me about 15 attemps lol.
So was so suprised when it fired up after just a few seconds of cranking.
Theres no leaks or noises from engine so im verry happy at wat iv acheved.
Just running it in at tho moment so wait till its done 1000 miles or so then i can see wat shes made of :)

boomtings1
13-08-11, 08:42 PM
Any one want to guess what bhp will be running at for when get it dynoed after running in. Its got re profiled cams power box full exhaust system with 4-2-1 manifold lots of porting and fpr. after this dyno i may think about getting an ecu or even chipping the one i have.

boomtings1
10-09-11, 06:49 PM
Its all run in now done about 1500 miles.
And its even faster than i was hoping it was going to be.
Today put the tigra wheels on as they have got proper tyres on and not cheap budget crap

Nice car - get that fuel pump location sorted though - it looks proper pikey lol - also get the cesaros back on there!

boomtings1
11-09-11, 09:08 AM
IV decided to get some coilovers so just saving up for them, I sold the spax to a mate. I also prefer the cesaros guna get them painted, i was thinking white wat u think. As for the pump im not sure where else to put it, the feed pipe comes streight out towards the frount of the car, and dont fancy running it round to the rear and having too much pipes running round

John
11-09-11, 09:12 AM
are you running a gte/gsi tank with an in built swirl or the original carb tank? the fuel pipe on said tank exits at the rear as the fuel pump is external floor located.

boomtings1
11-09-11, 09:16 AM
No its a 1.2 carb tank

boomtings1
11-09-11, 09:18 AM
I just keep the tank full

John
11-09-11, 09:41 AM
I just keep the tank full

Perhaps something to sort in the future then? The fuel pump can then sit in the proper cradle. They're rubber mounted/suspended. When the're bolted straight to the floor they can expire quite quickly. :)

boomtings1

looks a good project i keep thinking off weather to get a baby xe for me nova but ive got to get it metaled and painted first.

boomtings1
13-10-11, 06:47 PM
The main reason i put the baby xe in is cos i had the tigra for years and i knew everything about it, reliable, and with the mods id put on over the years was quite fast so didnt wanted to save the best thing about the car.
Now that its in the nova its same as my mates redtop nova hatch back, would have been an easier conversion if id got the right model nova to start with lol but saw it with low mites for cheap so couldnt resist :)

Linch
12-11-11, 01:25 PM

Time to start the second stage. Now that i have got a runabout will be keeping the nova in the garage so can just do it in my own time.

Firstly i have stripped all the frount end down to seal it and make sure theres no major rot.

Heres the near side.

Its the front tie bars, bottom arms and hubs off the Tigra
Thought id have a go at putting them on as i have never seen it done before and i figured there must be some advantage over the early corsa b suspention as Lotus re-designed it. There are other differences other than the bottom ball joints. the tie bars are thicker, the bottom arms arnt longer like the early corsa b ones, the extra length comes from the ball joints.
Also added the GAZ coilovers too.

As you can see they are the same length, the bottom arms are also strengthened as standard. I couldnt see any differance in the hubs the, if there was it was minimal.
I found that the tie bars are too long and wont go together unless you use the Tigra ones as the 2 holes are spaced differently for the ball joint, so i got the bar machined down to fit.
After the trial fit, i got them shot blasted.

Forgot to add i have put pollybushes on also, the inner bottom arm bushes need to be the late corsa ones as they are different.

corsa b suspention as Lotus re-designed it

Erm did they?

As Corsa and Tirga track is wider, hence the probs you've had. Didn't know was any difference in them either...

boomtings1
06-07-12, 09:23 PM
The early Corsa suspension is the same as the nova except the bottom arms are longer on the Corsa, but Vauxhall got lotus to re-design it for the release of the Tigra in 94 and was put on the later Corsas after like 97 i think.
