hi thier im after some advice on what sealant that i can use on my water pump. its a small block. an i would like to use a sealant that goes off qiuckly... soo i can apply it then use the car after:thumb:
all advice and comments much appreciated:)

when you fit the new water pump, you need to clean up the mating face really well, and only use a non drying sealant like a hylomar on it.

if your old pump is leaking, just get a new one, they aren't worth attempting to fix.

nothin wrong with the water pump or cambelt. im changin the cam plus it got noisy tappets. and want to change it the proper way thats all. were can i buy hymolar from ??

The proper way would be to replace the water pump and cambelt while you are there. It's false economy to me if you dont do it whilst they are off.
Smallblock pumps usually leak after they have been disturbed if you dont replace them.

i havnt had the car to long. the owner said he has done the head gasket. as soon as i got it home i looked at the cambelt. an it looks fairly new, its just when they did they head gasket i think they did not clean the tappets :( as some times u can her the follower's go noisey. ive got a spare water pump im takin jus incase;)

you should hear my tappets lol, ive just done the h/g etc and cleaned the tappets and christ do they tap now lol

will go away though

lol some times u cant her it tap then all of sudden they come in to life agen lol realy gets on my nut. it seems to do it on tick over. cant wait to put the cam in it now:eek: poor engine lmao.

ive never used sealer, just a thin smear of grease. :)
