ive read the guide for this conversion and have acouple of questions.

does the chasis need cutting to accept an 8v as well as the 16v?
how much heavier is a 2 ltr 8v with a f16 compered to a 1400 16v with f20/16 box??

how hard is this conversion in general? im not worried about wiring as ill be running twin carbs, cheers

the xe is apparently about 45kg more than a small block 8v, the big block 8v would be maybe 25-30 kg more.

the only reason to cut the chassis is for clearance for the alternator bolt. look up mazz's thread on fitting a kubota diesel alternator, which is tiny.

does that mean that there would be no need to cut anything then?

if you fit the other alternator you should be fine

so with the rite bits its more or less a simple conversion with no chasis mods needed?

yeah but youd better ask the all singing and dancing mowgli what the alternator is off
