This weekend I plan on doing my engine swap.
I'm going from a 1.0 to a 1.3
I've got the engine, Carb and inlet manifold, 5spd Gearbox, dizzy.
Now I know I need a fuel tank so I have two lines.
But does anybody know what else I might need?
I presume I can use me existing driveshafts from the 4spd box...
Is the alternator the same?
Are the engine mounts the same?
what else do i need to change? Now i've done a search but it seems that this topic isn't really covered as most people ditch the 1.0 in favour for something a bit more meaty...
Help please :thumb:

you'll need the front engine mount, and the exhaust manifold, downpipe and possibly the front section of the exhaust.
I think you've got the rest,

no the rubber mount is the same, its the bracket that bolts to the engine and then that, its different, it fits on the 1.2 1.3 1.4 and 1.6 8v blocks, the 1.0 bracket is different, im on my phone at the mo or id find pics to compare for you.

The wiring can sometimes be a pain...the oil pressure wires need extending for a start as the sender is in a different place. The 1.0 also has a resistor wire in the loom (pretty sure its the clear coated one) which means you will have to run a new switched live wire.
Should be fairly straightforward though as there are only a handful of wires needed to run
Shafts are same, as are mounts apart from the bracket mentioned above. Not sure on the alternator but I have a load of spare parts off an early 12ST if you get stuck :thumb:

Also Tom can I please ask you a favour because this does get asked on a regular basis, when you building it would you do a decent build thread in the Articles section :d

You are my new saviour!
alts different, as is the rad and hoses.
Yep you'll need a 1.2/3 rad and hoses too Tom. Don't forget the 1.0 coil runs on 6v iirc, so a new 12v feed is needed for the 1.3 dizzy.

If you need a hand tom ill come up over the weekend.
Done 3 1.0 conversions now, so I have some idea what to do lol
Also worth noting is the coil mounting holes are differant, so you have to drill the shell.

I'll bring my oxy acetylene:)
just to confuse things, my 1.2 coil bolted straight on, i also plugged it into the original feed and it sparked and ran fine. so try it first and my alternators were the same to lol

Funny you should mention this, i've converted a couple of 1.0's to 1.3. One was fine, the other just refused to start. The 12v feed cured it. :)
was the one that worked an early one?

When converting 1.0 to 1.2carb, my coil just bolted straight on and also my altenator(sp) was the same! Needed the 12v feed though.
