As above, if the best is broken will the pistons kiss the valves? I know it wont happen on the 8vs but am I in trouble?

Yep, interference engines :(

There is the rare chance they haven't, but it's less than likely.

What speed/rpm did it go at?

I've had the belt go on an old Rover of mine at 15ish MPH, and only lost a couple valves.

Ok, whats happened is the wood ruff key has broken, the car has been turned and turned numerious times so turning the bottom end and not the top.

I havent seen the car yet, apparently the bottom pully bolt came out altogether and the woodruff key broke.

As described by the car owner.
