i really want a nova on the road as a toy , and ive got 2 in the garage one a boggo 1liter and one a gte , but both needing lots of work lollollol ive also bought everything too convert to a c20xe running on carbs and i mean everything :( but ive been off work awhile now with a bad knee , ive had my op on it :( and had plenty of time reading png threads and looking at the bay lol and i was all up for building my perfect nova ,BUT!!! i think if i sold all my parts i could just buy one !!!
so question is should i build one or sell all and just buy one ??? please help :confused:
convert the 1.0, and build an XE daily....then make the GTE looks spankinly shiny

All depends if you can be @rsed getting dirty. A ready built one should work out a lot cheaper though if its well built and is how you want your perfect car to be.

exactly my thoughts i could just buy one and save all the agrro lol and they are so cheap at mo and most people end up breaking em ????:) :)

Unless you've had your Novas for years and have grown attached to them, then buy a ready made one. I myself have stuck with fixing up my old rotter, not the sensible option but I couldn't stand to strip and scrap a Nova, let alone one I've had for many years and enjoyed so much.
yea know what u mean if i still had my old sr f722 mkx i wouldnt part with that for the world but i was young and stupidlol so these ive got now dont mean alot too me :( think i want a sr againlol lol lol

the best advice my dad gave me:- £500 buys a lot of engine, but not much bodywork
just what work do your cars need??

depending on the condition of your novas i would probably sort the GTE out.
gte has serious metal worm but all original and 1litre is a fully stripped shot blasted and primered shell but with all new pannels fitted :) so stuck both need loads of work and i could sell both and buy a sweet nova , i dont mind getting my hands dirty but think ive bit too much off lol lol lol

Get some pictures up of both motors and then I'll decide, actually just make one good one as a toy out of both then sell the unwanted parts and buy a standard Astra MK4 as a daily (that seems the norm lol).

Keep in mind that selling the two shells and all your bits might not be quick and easy. Loads of people end up scapping their shells after all the bits have gone, as nobody wants or is able to buy a non rolling or running car.
Your 1.0 sounds like a great base to work from, and as said above, you'll know that theres no hidden rot or shoddy workmanship as there could be in a car you'd buy.
Get some pictures up of both motors and then I'll decide, actually just make one good one as a toy out of both then sell the unwanted parts and buy a standard Astra MK4 as a daily (that seems the norm lol).

I would restore it with the bits, then its all your car and the respect you would get for restoring them too. You would appreciate it more :)

Unless the GTE has a lot of sentimental value and you really want to save her I would sell her on - at least the 'GTE' tag adds some value to the shell

it doesnt hold any value too me so guess strip it and weigh it in and help the other gte owners in making theres rarer lol lol lol

I would definitely use the shell you have, seeing as it's a blank canvas so to speak .
think we could do with some clearer pics to help you with help on this.
i.e.. if its and easy fix or wether or not the shell would sell on

IMO & I'm sure most would agree, its the building & maintaining of Novas that is half the fun. The chances of buying a poorly converted or maintained Nova are high anyway, chances are a bought, quick Nova will still need tearing apart & correcting.
I say restore your GTE, maybe pilfer the 1.0litre for parts along the way.
Also think hard about a valver on carbs, an SFi injected motor is just as quick but far less hassle.
sod it im selling up and gonna buy one ready made cant be arsed with the months of garage time , been their done that when i was racing lol lol for sale threads coming up:( :( :(

You'll struggle to maybe sell both then try and save enough to get something worth buying IMO. As I said you've got all the relevant parts needed to build something to the spec you require so crack on ;)

thanks people but my mines made up sell all and buy a stock sr or gte and have a starting point plus im off sick at mo due too a knee injury at work so frustrating me not being able too do sod all :( and i know when im back at work il get hammered with 24hr shifts :( so no time too do owt:(
