I've decided to sell my faithful daily as i want something a little more modern and little more comfortable as a daily.
Sorry for the essay but heres its history:
It was originally a 1.2 merit and was bought brand new in 1988 by an old couple who did around 4000 miles a year in it. The original service booklet is filled in upto 1998 when it was at 35000.
In 2007, a guy called Lee spotted it in Tesco's petrol station in Gainsborough and approached the old couple with his number asking them to ring him if they ever wanted to sell it. About a year later, they rang him and said they had to sell the car as the old guy was losing his sight and therefore his licence.
So, in 2008, Lee got hold of it. He turned it into a full GTE rep, put 2 new rear arches on it and had it resprayed in August 2010. He stored it in his garage and just used it now and again when the weather was good.
In February this year, he decided he needed to sell it as it wasnt getting used and it was taking up space in his garage so along came me and Mr Porter after the episode with the scooby and bought it as my new daily. Lee had a pit in his garage and Ste got underneath it, went round it and it really is solid.
Its been a fantastic little thing really, its only cost me £20 a week to run to work and back and its helped me get me back on my feet financially being so cheap to run!
Since we've bought it, its had the following:
2 new front tyres (literally a week before pvs they went on)
2 new bottom ball joints
Passenger side wheel bearing
Drivers side hub
We also took the 1.6 8v out and put Spudly's 1.4 8v in and it runs an absolute treat. It had the head gasket done before we put it in and last week it had new plugs, leads, distributor and rotor arm. The engine we got from Spudly has a folder full of history with it and at its last recorded mileage before Spudly took his white flair off the road was 80k so its not done a million miles.
The interior is in good condition. The drivers bolster does have a little tear (see pics).
The car itself has 15inch astra gsi fanblades, 2.0l brakes, 4 branch manifold, K&N air filter, strut brace, its been lowered 60mm all round and has a 3 inch magnex backbox.
It has MOT until September and Tax until end of August.
Bad Points:
When it got resprayed, Lee never took it back for its final flat back so the paint in areas is quite matt, more so on the bottom of the doors but, as you'll see in the pics, it still shines lovely.
When Lee had it, it got broken into and they bent the door back. There is a couple of marks on the inside of the door and a little crack on the outside when it creased (see pics)
The plastic lugs inside for the wingmirrors have been broken off
There is a tiny rust bubble on the passenger rear arch (see pics)
It used to have a show cage and there are 2 tiny bolt holes in the floor that need welding but the carpet will need to come out to do it, hence why its not been done yet.
I'm looking at replacing it with a Cav or Calibra or maybe a 3 series beemer.
I'm looking for £1800 ono. I'm in no rush to sell it as it deserves a good home!
Will upload pics shortly.....
