View Full Version : blown fuse in immobiliser

hi all, my immobiliser keeps blowing one of the fuses, its done it a couple of times now, has anyone got any ideas on what it could be please?

phill ,check all the wires from the immob where they join the car loom , any loose joints , especially on the power feeds could be shorting it out , if all looks fine though then its prob goin to be a prob with the immob itself , theres not a lot that you can really do then bar replace it

cheers dude i thought it may have been something along those lines and i checked all the wires and one of the ignition lives was a bit loose so iv put it back together tight and everything seems ok now though, i need to come and show you the nova soon too

could the unit be getting to hot? internal short of some kind?

What is it wired in to? as immobilisers can only take a certain amperage on the immobilised feeds.

its wired into the ingition into the red wire at one side and the other side is the black wire in the ignition it also feeds to the alarm box ecu thing if you know what i mean

That will be why it's blowing then, bear in mind the fuse for the main ignition live is 75 amps! add up all the fuses in your box and that's basically just over what you're asking of it!
