Hi all, does anyone know which one of the wires that come from the barrel is the ignition live.

I need to wire the DTA to one of the wires for its power when the ignition is switched on. Anyone know off the top of your head which wire I need to tap into?

There's a red, two blacks and a red/black IIRC? It's one of the blacks, one stays live when cranking and one doesn't I believe, quick test with a multimeter (or DIY bulb and wire thing) should show which one

Yes that's them cheers mate, not actually at the car and there's no battery or anything like that connected up. Will have a proper play around tomorrow.

Imagine it just bridges the blacks to the red, in which case it should be possible to test which black is still connected when the key is in the cranking position? Only guessing now lol

the red is 12v+ (from battery)
the black of equal size thickness to the red is switched live to the fuseboard
the thinner black is a feed for the rad fan, internal fan and heated rear window
the black/red is to the starter

all of your ignition live feeds for the engine should be off the thicker of the two blacks via the fuseboard

*edit, the black that disconnects on crank is the thinner of the two blacks that supplies both fans and heated rear window (the things that use the most current) to provide more power for the starter/engine on crank
