View Full Version : Small block engine weight
Before I start looking at these engines, is there a noticeable weight difference between them and big blocks? I don't really want to waste my time if the difference is minimal like 10kg etc.
So roughly whats the weight of:
- C20XE with F20
- C16XE with F15
Cheers

Im sure its only around 15kg tops between the two 16v engines
Scott from the link you've posted people seem to say XE is around the 150kg figure, still can't find info on small blocks though
As said above think its only 10-15kgs mate although its more noticeable when there sat in the car lol.
I'm pretty sure it's nearer 35kg between a 20XE and a x/c16xe

That's the sort of figure I've always understood to be the case, although I've not personally weighed one of each.
I'd be very surprised if it was only 10/15kg difference.
And don't forget of course that the gearbox is heavier too.
