I have had an idea for when my nova is back on the road. originally i was going to sell my astra but then i got thinking. would it be easy to do a z20leh conversion, or if thats not possible obviously a z20let? i know the LET would go straight in but what sorta stuff would i be looking at for the conversion? mounts? loom?

You would need a complete setup i think tbh, mounts maybe the same im not sure though.

Get a package with the loom ecu transponder gearbox shafts etc and it should drop straight in.

what sorta price would i be looking at for that sort of package? and would that be for the LEH or LET?

I just sold a full z20let package with 86,000 miles for £900 but that was cheap and it was in my way, anything around £900 to £1500 for a decent setup is about the norm, if you wanted leh add any thing from £500 to a grands extra to the let price tbh

With the cheap prices of coupe turbos and some sri turbos you're wasting you're time doing a conversion

i wouldnt see it as a waste of money really, i would enjoy it as a project really

Well in that case put it in a Corsa C, will be a lighter shell :thumb:

yeah but i already have the astra, and i quite like the car, and everybody sticks em in corsa c's, if i want something like that i will just stick a c20 let in my nova lol

As already said, you can pickup coupe turbos for less than 2k now. You'll pay £1400 for a decent engine/box, and then all the hassle of converting. It aint worth it.

Me and a few mates just done a z20let on a mk4 astra loon a week ago,
Bought a front end (rear end damage astra gsi) and got all the dash suspension brakes etc, so was a case of stripping both complety down, then refitting the gsi items, you will need full engine loom, and we changed the interior loom (behind dash) you will also need shafts gear linkage etc, i think the top engine mounts are the same not sure on the mounts on the subframe as we dropped the whole subframe with steering rack the lot and bolted it up. heres a few pics.

Took 4 days to strip both down and refit the new one, and that was taking our time and we labelled ever plug connection interior and engine (74 differenct connections in total iirc) we also put a gsi fuel pump on it, and its started on the button and is now on the road. Only thing we didnt put back on was the air con as my mate didnt want it so we fitted a posh aircon deleter lol. Any more questions, or picture requests let us know, especially as its still fresh in my had

the air con is knackered in mine anyway, so that wouldnt be a problem. how much did the gsi cost? that sounds like a good plan lol

it was 1800 delivered with 30k on the clock, which sounds like alot, but having this, it made things very easy, and also had everything we needed bar the fuel pump. So money well spent imo

thats not bad really considering you get everything you need. i would probably go for that option

It was worth the extra, and we got the 308 brake setup, and the dash and matching dials etc. Plus the linkage and stuff we simply unbolted and bolted back on so no need to setup, plus we got the fuel lines that connect under the car so that was all bolt on stuff. Happy days. Was well worth the time and money, its an awesome car :d

I was tempted, but cant now i have no job, might do it once I'm working again, or just sell the mk4 i have and buy another already done, so on, depends, as i really like mine, and i know where its been, full S'history etc.

BUT I'm also tempted to sell all my cars and buy a 54-56 plate scooby sti.

But again it's repairs costing more then vaux etc.

If you wanted a turbo astra, i would really consider a Coupe Turbo.
So cheap these days.

Sti tho for a daily, 20mpg anyone? lol

Dont get me wrong i would love a proper GSi turbo as theyre just fecking ace, but the sleeper-ish car that would be mine with a zlet would be mint, i wouldnt even change my wheels bth lol

needs to be a british gas van with the stickers, steelies, roofrack etc, and a 400bhp let or a big v6.....
