At the moment i am putting a new set of rings in my old 1.4nv lump.Do i have to have the crank reground or can i just buy the same size shells and put them in ? ?:thumb:

TBH i nvere have had a crank reground ive always just put shells in id take the shells to a engine builders to have them checked and swop like for like.

Well depends if there is any pitting wear marks scoring etc ? Id take it to a engine place and get them to check it unless you have micrometers to see if the crank is badly worn, the circumfance has gone oval etc hope that helps a bit :)

Have you checked the bore's for wear?, new rings won't cure a worn cylinder.
Same for the crank, clean, inspect and measure.
