View Full Version : GSi subframe wobble
Discovered today that my gsi subframes can lift on the O/S rear corner on the drivers side, I assume the same is true for the passengers (opposite side obviously)
It's fine to sit in but wobbles a fair amount with no weight on it as this side can lift...
Is it normal or are my subframes goosed/missing a piece? Anyone happen to have any pics of the underside of theirs?
Have you got the plastic covers on the chassis rails before you fitted the seats?
Yeah they're present, I assume the standard ones are no different to GSi? I don't remember changing them when I put a GSi interior in my last one.
Wedge something in it to stop the wobble? lol

Unfortunately it's free to move upwards about half an inch or so, so I'd be sat more on the piss than you usually are in a nova lol
edit: Welding it to the car is a viable option though. :d

I'venoticed this myself, not had a rocking chair effect though.
maybe drill a hole & bolt through rather than weld?

I was joking actually lol
I'm wondering if it may be because of the way I've attached my seats, it's lost a bit of it's rigidity compared to standard, IIRC GSi seats have a fairly hefty frame to the actual seat, where these don't. Or don't any more since they got welded onto Calibra subframes maybe.
If that's the case I might extend the 'hook' piece of the subframe so it clicks into the floor more tightly.

Cant you just beat a wooden wedge into the gap? Could maybe 'satin-black' it if you wanted to hide such bodgery.
do you have the plastic bits that clip over where thr runners slide on?

For the time it'd take it's not too much to weld a little tab in just to hold it a touch tighter.

Both my seats do the exact same. Always wondered what's been causing it

Standard GSi or replacements on subframes?
Mine do a bit but doesn't worry me.
mk999, stop doing fat birds in the car...
like i said before do you have the plastic bits that clip over where the seat rails are?
