Luxembourg road trip & OCP open day pictures

Just got back from a great weekend in Luxembourg with a visit to Steve Armeni and OCP.
BIG thanks to Steve and his family for putting up me and the missus in his Chateaulol (really, it is that big!). Oh and thanks to Kate, the long suffering wife that endured a weekend of boring(to her) car related stuff:d.

Well, OCP & Steve were fed up of storing my hoard of parts so as OCP had an open day on Saturday I decided to make a weekend of it and go over to Europe.

Set out on Friday on the most stressfull journey I have ever made to try and get to Dover for the Ferry in time. After endless road works, accidents and going the wrong way round the M25 because I was too tight to pay the £1.50 toll on the Dartford crossing lol(Well the nav did ask if I wanted to avoid the toll road) I made it just in time.....

Got to Steve's late on Friday night, thank god for Sat-Nav with European mapping, you would be nuts to go without it(Ahem, Bazil ;))!
His house, or Chateau as I will call it is mahoosive with a garage and car part storage I would kill for!

Anyway, Steve very kindly let me drive his LHD Sport replica to the OCP open day on Saturday whilst he drove his Spider and Kate follwed in the van to collect the parts. Had a great drive over the border into Germany in the Sport, saw a lovely Ascona 400 in Rothmans colours stopped in the fuel station whilst doing a local Rally. Sadly it had gone before I had chance to pay(£1.16 a litre for diesel, lucky gits) and go back to get the camera.

Was gobsmacked at the size of the OCP warehouse, they have some stock.
Unfortunately the Corsa A/Nova stock is dwindling, most items are now NLS but did have plenty of LH doors though. Sadly no RH doors!

I take the one blue bag, that includes my clothes, laptop & charger etc. The missus takes the pink suitcase, blue carrier bag thing, pink bag and the other case thing. Bloody women! Could of used that space for more panels lol

No, there was minimal rattling as it was packed in so well.

I think LHD cars are more prone to damage to the right side of the car and RHD to the left hand. LHD cars make up a larger number of Nova/Corsa A's sold so more RH panels have been used.

IMO its because they get slammed shut far more times than the N/S & the seam sealer cracks away from the door skin & lets the folded lip at the bottom rust from the inside.

Unless of course you drive a LHD model, which the majority of nova/corsa a owners do. Could be splashes from the side of the road as Mowgli is suggesting I assume, but all of my novas have rotted worse on the O/S than the nearside.

Thinking about it, considering the millions of novas that must have sold over their lifetime, and the amount of those that would have had replacement doors by now, i.e the ones that aren't around today, those that had accidents that would have compromised their value, or rust proofing that means they have since been scrapped, high mileage that are repaired until it's uneconomical to do so etc... 300 probably isn't a bad figure for pure chance.

Doesn't agree with my experience, red 1.6 and the TD were/are worse on the O/S, mustard shell it's hard to say as it's been repainted/repaired but the engine bay/front end in general is definitely worse on the O/S and that is relatively untouched apart from a respray 3-4 years ago (2 of which it was just sat in my garage for)

ive been told by many folk abroad that RH door rot over there due to that side not being used as often as the drivers door ( LH ) so the drain plugs foul up, the door retains water and rots from the inside outwards,
