Surely the shell and everything was intact? Why make a totally new car which tbh, looks worse than the original?

RV1 was built over 20 years though and is/was road legal...im pretty sure this one was built purely for hoonding down the strip.

TeddyThom
28-05-11, 05:16 PM
Doesn't exactly look road legal lol

But to be fair I think red victor 1 is still running around somewhere, or garaged due to petrol prices gathering dust :/

They stated in the build thread that it is/is going to be road legal too :)

Would like to see it going anywhere on British roads, haha. Pulling away at the lights would be a spectacle though.

RV1 was the orignal standard body car iirc?, Then RV2 was spaceframed etc and the one seen on fifth gear etc.

RV3 is another spaceframe, but fibreglass body, longer, lower and wider than a std victor. Plus designed for the massive power and future mods.

Build thread is a must read, Even though its huge lol

anyone like to explain to me how that , albeit incredible vehicle, managed to get registered & licenced as a vauxhall victor from 1972

taxdisc check...
The enquiry is complete The vehicle details for PTB 557K are:
Date of Liability 01 05 2012 Date of First Registration 06 07 1972 Year of Manufacture 1972 Cylinder Capacity (cc) 8925CC CO2 Emissions Not Available Fuel Type Petrol Export Marker Not Applicable Vehicle Status Licence Not Due Vehicle Colour RED Vehicle Type Approval

apart from the badge, which is modified, not one part of the car is original.

Mike

Fibreglass shell has gone, and most of the engine will have been heat treated, the bad way. Along with all the loom and fuel lines etc, after that there's not much more to them that costs money. It's not like a fire in a Nova where you can replace most of the engine, loom etc for pennies and it's the chassis which is hard to replace.

It would be less dead if it had hit the wall and banana'd imo.

Apparently Henri Joosten's calling it a day now after what happened :( a lot of people are saying the engine exploded as parts of the front fg hood fired up right up in the air (allegedly?).

If nitrous was involved I wouldn't be surprised if fuel and nitrous in a TB etc caused a minor explosion, enough to blow some FG splinters in the air. In fact the fuel is probably methanol or nitrous methane? Which is pretty potent without an oxidiser.

Looks like a good one

that's not a nitrous backfire I don't think, that's come from the commentator that's obviously watched too many fast and furious movies and thinks it's flammabable, looks like fuel still under pressure to me, very nasty!

Mike
29-05-11, 10:20 PM
No as in the initial fire started from the gas blowing things to bits like.

MK999
29-05-11, 10:24 PM
ahh, must have cut that bit out, must be engine bits everywhere then lol

Mike

Yea that video starts the fire is already well going so Im guessing theres some missing kinda thing :S
