Final Drive

If anyone is interested, the 4.53 final drive that is sold for the Nova by various rally spares companies, is a std vauxhall item, apparently fitted to the F10 and F13 boxes of Corsa's. I have the part number, just want to work out which models utilized them, and I'll start hunting around in the breakers yards.

the benefit is that you can accelerate much much faster, mild drawbakcs are that your top end is lower.


i saw a 4.53 on usedrallyspares for ?150 lmao i hope it was a quaife or similar.

Yes i knew what it does just wondered if this particular one was for higher accelartion or higher top end.

What sort of loss on top you end you looking at?

you lose about 3-5% top end going from 3.94 to 4.1766666 (4.18)

so from any to 4.53 its gonna be a hefty drop in top end

running with a 4.1 on a f13c/r box, it appears that in 5th gear 60mph is now at 3200rpm instead of 3000 rpm, and 90mph is now 5000rpm

dan, did that box u had off me have this FD on it?

initially check the gearbox code. then if you want to be extra sure, take the FD (diff gear and pinon from output shaft) and count the teeth, big number divided byt the smaller number.


then you can be sure, ie dans was 4.1766666 or something close to that, but vaux say its 4.18 :D

some of the f13wr boxes contain a 3.94 instead of the 4.18fd, i found mine in an f10 box i was given as a mate was throwing it away :D

well i got a corsa gsi box, and want it to be slightly quicker acceleration, but not too much, not as much as say dans

Also did you know Vaux list an LSD you can get? Irmischer part by all accounts according to MC whose been tracking it down?

LSD, sounds like a good idea, i am looking for one at the moment.
