Motor is sensitive, head is prone to cracking if abusing, ie. topping boost with cold motor or turning motor off without cooling off by running few minutes at idle to be sure.

Bad oil will wear it quickly, because oil pressure takes time to get all places, it enters from one end of cylinder head so good quality synthetic oil is a must.

It is not awful slow, well that is at 3rd gear, because at 1st and 2nd turbo is not spooling up, there is some serious turbo lag.

It does weight a tonne and a half, motor has something like 136hp or such so it is not too slow, but not too fast, surely it is much better than 740 Na diesel, probably in range of 1.4-1.7 340?

It is silent when compared to other big rwd diesel Volvos, any 240 is noisier, engine noise is isolated quite well, so it is mainly tire noise in it.

Ventilation is rubbish compared to 300, but as we all know there are few cars which has such good ventilation as 300.

Get a wagon and you have van like cargo space. Steer clear from slushboxes, car has not enough power for those.

It has better fuel economy than 240 NA diesel, but it is not very economical, except it to drink around 7l/100km or bit over 6 on highway, where 240 NA diesel was 7-8l/100km on highway, granted that most of it's power was in use frequently.

At least here most of them are driven half million or more, there is not much life left in motor and drivetrain in such, but get low mileage one and it is perhaps ok, body is probably one of the least rust prone car ever made, maybe even including aluminium Audis

edit: Steering wheel is smaller than other ones on that era Volvo's and steering is stupidly light, while brake and clutch make quite a contrast being rather heavy, cornering speeds are not felt as much as earlier models and it does not show aging, paint and materials are quite outstanding quality. To put short, it is highway car, to run long distances, it is not at home in a town.

and another

I'm not going to bother with detail, I merely have three words: Do not want

And I'll add... E34 525tds instead
