It's been over a year since I joined PNG and I'm still Novaless...

I initially came here with the idea of picking up a Mk1 Nova Saloon to restore..

That soon gave way to my Mk1 5 Door Nova Sport Rep idea, which is still on going, even though I'm struggling to find a suitable Nova..

I have had the chance of a couple of cars, but for one reason or another I haven't been able to or had the opportunity to grab them..

My loss :(

As time is creeping along I'm becoming frustrated and desperate(?) due to the lack of Novas in my life...

I'd hoped to be well into a restoration project by now..

This frustration has seen me (very) recently beginning to look at those small creatures from Italy once again and I was almost on the verge of adding to my FIAT collection last week!

Then over on the Bay, I stumbled upon a Nova almost on my doorstep (which is pretty rare)..

But:

It's a Mk2 and anyone who has read my posts regarding Mk2s will know that I will go for Mk1 every time..

I much prefer the Mk1 style both inside and out :thumb:

And, it's a saloon, which again isn't really what I'm looking for..

But it's that desperation thing plus I'm attracted to the car simply because it's a bit of a Nemesis situation...

I could buy the Mk2 and 'Mk1' it, maybe...?

If I don't pick up something soon, I'll be away buying up more FIATs (126 or Cento or something more bizarre) and I don't really want to do that..

So, folks??

(a) Buy the Mk2 and live with it
(b) Buy the Mk2 and Mk1 it?
(c) Wait for the 'right' car for my Sport Project?
(d) Defect to the darkside and save another (gasp) FIAT????

At the end of the day how many doors does it have? 4 = a no no.

If it's a mark 2 saloon then it's a 4 door.:thumb:

If it were me I'd leave it, you'll always regret not buying the one you wanted!
And when it comes to selling it again, a 4 door saloon will be hard to sell at the best of times, and a modified one will limit the market even further.........

If its in minty condition and cheap, theres two good points to help cancel out the negatives of being a 5 door mk2. A mk2 saloon doesn't have to be a bad thing, just putting a GSI front bumper on makes a big difference.

Hold out for a 5dr Mk1 if thats what you want.

Just that the 'summer' is almost here and I am keen to get on with something that hopefully, will be travelling to some shows, etc next year..

Mk2's rot sooooo bad, I would stay clear speaking from personal experience

If you want a mk1 then just be prepared to travel a bit further for it millage wise

Always best to wait for something your going to be happy with

I know where your coming from lad same story with me.

Why don't you buy the mk2 and put an add up wanting to swap for mk1, if no interest at least you got a nova, and if you get a swap then well done

Don't fancy the hassle of looking for someone to swap with..

I'll give it a bit more thought but to be honest I'm beginning to lean toward the 'wait for the right car' option..

Still bothers me though that the summer is passing me by and I've no project on the go :(

Thanks folks..

Yes, had a look at both of the above plus another polar white 5 door but was hoping to pick one up at a budget price..

Condition isn't a big issue..

If anyone can remember, when I came on here I was originally looking for a project, ie, plenty to do, hence the budget price target..

I'm not looking for a minter or anything completely restored..

Thanks again for looking though... :-)

Re: The above ΛΛΛ

Just a random middle-age moment..

Of course I'll wait for the right Nova..

However, I still can't rule out buying another piece of Italian metal if the right one comes along first :-)
