ok i will try again
1. engine ticks over fine
2. try to rev with acc pedal and it dies
3. rev by hand at the t/b on the large flap it will rev
4. touch the lever that controls the small buterfly and it it dies
Is the acc cable catching on something?

Check the breathers aren't blocked small one from cam cover gets clogged small drill bit or pin into throttle body with carb cleaner works, done loads at work,if not could be air flow meter.
earth strap?? and the engine is earthing thru throttle cable.. perhaps?? i know its random, but i've never heard of a throttle cable causing any faults before..

in gonna try another afm to rule that out and never thought about the breathers:thumb: :thumb:
I cant think of any reason why revving on the throttle body side or on the pedal would make such a difference, I take it your revving the engine in the same manor on both sides of the cable?
XE has a twin butterfly, its something to do with the smaller one. As when you hit the pedal it moves this first, and also when he moves the smaller butterfly by hand it dies. Is the TPS on the smaller or larger one? I'm guessing smaller?

even if i pull the cable whilst standing over the engine it dies. i can only rev it by manually operating the large butterfly lever, i will try and get a vid tomorrow.

tps is on small one but i have changed the tb and no difference
Iiiinteresting, I assume the smaller butterfly is not under water, attached to a CO2 fire extinguisher, etc? lol

nope lol im gonna try some things out and see what happens. bought it as a running engine too. :(
It is running lol
If you open the big butterfly slighty and then open the little one, what happens?
Tps ?
That would be my bet. Unplug it, it should run without it, I drove mine for months with it unplugged.
