explain fuel pulsator?
basicly the fuel pulsator is the black box under the wing on corsa sri not sure on a nova sri. it dampens the fuel i think before it reaches the fuel reg.
soo you get a smoother more constant fuel pressure.
please some one correct me if im wrong

So a Fuel Damper.. not needed. ive run my 1.6 gsi engine fine withought one
well, gm didn't fit them for the good of their health... they fitted them cos they reckoned it was necessary.

Some people think different. and they are also hard to find? and old ones were known to be ****e and rust and leak neer the inlet/ outlet ports from corrosion.
well people like me simply bought new dampers when the old one looked like it would fail.
thanks for all the replys guys;)
soo what are the pro's an con's with using one?
and with out using one?
soo can any one tell me were i can get 1 ? i think getin one from from a breakers will be a joke to be ohnest. or can you buy these new ? or even from a motor factors.

Basically it's like a surge protector for the fuel pump, when the injectors open and close it causes the fuel in the line to pulse ( like if you look at ocilliscope it peaks and falls ) this can reach all the way back to the pump so the dyaphram sits directly after the pump to prevent the pump from being affected by this pulse so it maintains a level and constant delivery of fuel at any engine speed.
I'd keep it unless you upgrade you fuel supply and use external swirl pots etc etc in which case it's not required

so this is a MUST have item for a nova running mpi? never heard of them til today
I'd say it does have a purpose, many say it's not needed, many say there car is fine without it, but I'll always have one fitted.
mine dosnt have one and its ran fine
yea ive never fitted one of these and my cars have always ran fine
Taken the one off my c16xe nova was told it wasn't needed by a few reputable engine builders and tuners.
Most cars don't have one that are fuel injected and mpi.
They have exactly the same setup with regards to a fuel tank, pump fuel pipes, injectors, regulator then return to tank so I don't personally know how critical it is.
Also if you get a new one how do you know how to correctly set it up as they are adjustable.

They were also fitted to the bigger cars like big block Cavs etc. I'd personally keep it to ensure everything runs smooth and nothing is prematurely worn out.
hi thier ive looked up dayle's link an isnt that a fuel presure reg from a nova gte or gsi ?
the pulsator i need to get is a black cannister got 3 pipe's goin to it if any one can help me shed on any light were i can purchase one.
well im goin to try an get a new 1 an fit it but i mite not use it yet but it will be on the car incase i have any probles an if i need to run it with or with out.
thanks for the help guys:thumb:
No that goes just after the pump on a multi point injection Nova. I removed mine as when i was restoring the car it looked like something that had been brought up off the titanic. Both Barbs snapped off upon removal of fuel pipes. It goes in-line just after the external pump. The fuel pressure regulator will be on the fuel rail AFTER the injectors.

That's the carbon canister, filters fumes from the petrol tank and something else for cabin air, 99% of them don't work any more and it weighs about a kilo, guess what happened to mine!

Filed safely with the credit card offers and insurance company ads you get through the post I hope? lol
soo how come the corsa sri neva had this fitted then ?? the c14se version ?
an does it have to be ajusted to a set pressure bit like a reg ?
nope i dont mean the crappy carbon cannister thing. on a corsa sri it sits under the o/s wing. its got a vacum pipe running too the throttle body.... its got blue pipes attached to it
