what are the benefits of fitting the cav shifter. a mate is breaking one and says i can help myself to bits.

its a 1.8 ls. any other stuff i should get from it??

Feels a bit nicer than the Nova one. Clears up space under the car for exhaust. If you can get a good one (or bodge it slightly if its not) it'll reduce a bit of play in the stick which feels awesome with a rosejointed linkage. Can mount it a bit higher up and where ever you want for your driving position.

Keep the standard nova shifter and rosejoint the linkage.
Cav shifter alone is not worth the effort.

Yeah IMO.

When Iain had the std nova shifter but with a RJ linkage it felt miles more positive than standard, you could actually "feel" the gears if you get me.

Cav shifter is a complete waste of time unless you need th space for the exhaust (ie 3" on a big spec LET) IMO

Oh another benefit is it looks mega cool when you peer in through the window.
