How to check if Fuel Pump is working?

Hi guys how do i know if the fuel pump is working i thought there was usually a humming noise but i cant hear it.

Its an external fuel pump and car is a 2.0 8v cheers

take the outlet pipe off and apply 12V to it..... if fuel flies out at a silly pace then its likely to be working :)

if its all in the car , just take off the pipe and turn the key. you will soon know as stu said lol.
