The m8 just got a gsi but from what we cam c the code starts
C16nz
But another m8 said it should be c16se ???

c16nz is not a gsi engine.

It may have had a bottom end swap at sometime in its life if it has c16nz written on it.

no, GTE and GSI BOTH had E16SE, late GSI had C16SE

Is C16NZ lower compression then - or does it really not matter at all (ie interchangeable). If compression difference, is that just in the pistons...?

easy way to tell quick is
E16se engine 1.6 8 valve "with dizzy fitted" GTE and GSI
C16se engine 1.6 8 valve "with coil pack" late GSI

C16NZ will be a single point injection engine I think. They could have just used the C16NZ bottom end as a replacement for the 16SE one.
