i raced a type R in my nova with a f20 box fitted. The type R couldn't keep up so i bet with the F16 the nova would be infront on a 1/4 mile. I might be abit bias though! haha
nova for the win
Whoever crosses the line first

Xe all day lol. My ex was bloody quick tbh just a good engine. But it's 1 of them you get a good 1 and you can get a bad1 imoO.
Depends if its a standard Type R. Mine has a few engine mods and feels quicker than my old XE Nova but I have no proof it is.
My old XE Nova ran a 14.2 1/4 mile as well.

i raced a standard type r at york and won but lost against a modded one standard xe on a f20
I raced a standard CTR at Pod and won, just. iirc there was about 0.2s in it!
would also depend if you are talking a standard nova trim etc aswell as a stripped out nova would be saving some serious weight over a road trim type r with airbags and all creature comforts.
I had a play with 1 in my old xe astra estate and he couldn't catch me, a standard 1 won't keep up with a xe nova hands down
My old xe nova used to regularly get wasted by my mates standard civic type R so there:p
Although one of my mates reckons his nova xe has beaten the starship enterprise and both were alongside a civic type R, til vtec kicked in and then both the nova and the enterprise were left for dead lol

I don't believe you, nothing can beat a "redtop" Nova remember

I think it must be my inability to drive fast in a straight line, you do go from first to fifth then work backwards down the box dont you? lol

iv got a mate like that, hes got a standard "redtop" in his corsa and its "200bhp" and he tries to race everything, he reckons hes beat m3s and scoobies and evos and all that maaaaaate
Thats not that Nick is it, who has ginners old red corsa by any chance, the doyle that reckons he has built a 180 bhp 2.0 8v rally engine by himself and is a fantastic mechanic, but wouldnt believe me and my mate when we told him that he had the timing wrong on his xe and thats why it pops and bangs and wont rev up properly lol

no lol, but i know who u mean, hes a proper doyle that kid. i went to his garage when i was looking at building a corsa. he actually introduced me to the 180hp 8v, it looked like a right pile of ****e. i asked him why it wasnt in his red corsa and he just gave me a load of crap that it wouldnt fit...... even though it was clearly in a corsa already lol. hes got a nissan pulsar now and he recons thats 480 hp lol
Oh dear i hope he doesnt do the belt on that then as he was the reason that corsa didnt/doesnt run right lol

he told me that rich had left my nova in his back yard for 3 years and the timing belt was rotten....... without even looking at it, hes amazing
My word how could he tell that, i mean it is true, Rich left it outside in the rain with the windows down every night for three years, even though he only owned it about a year and a half lol

i think it took him half of that time to build it didnt it?
And the rest, it spent more time on stands in chicken shed than it did anywhere else lol

I managed 6 seconds in mine at York but no doubt someone with their mate on a stopwatch has managed 4.something and will be along shortly.
I managed a 4.2 with stopwatch in one of my old XEs.

The Nova would pip it to the post on 1/4 mile with the f16 IMO, also depends on the driver as well.

lol soz mate now edited, i meant beat lol
lol
Only read the first post.
There's more than one generation of Civic Type R. Although I know for a fact you will mean the EP3. People seem to think that the CTR started on this shape. The same ones that thought my mates Accord Type R wasn't real too no doubt. "They don't do a Taap R Accord innit man!" lol
Read it all now - I did that the wrong way round like Spud and his gear changes lol. BTW Spud, SR20DET has a timing chain, so should be safe from your knacker of an acquaintance! lol

Ahhhh, see everyday is a school day, i know not much of jap engines but now i think, the majority are chains anways arent they, my sisters (no before anyone asks) civic sport is a chain, as is my dads jazz:thumb:
With like for like mods, the CTR would leave an XE motor for dead. More so an EK9.
