View Full Version : skimming v6 calipers to fit 15inch wheels?
tryed to put my cav slabs on earlier and the caliper is to big anyone ever shaved some off the top before to clear? pros and cons?
Do you have the 54mm caliper then? As my 57s fit behind slabs Ok, but I suppose thats with slightly worn pads though

im not sure jack? why would the pads make a difference? It just wouldnt go on lol
Try wheel spacers, along as your car isn't to low.

how would spacers work? i need space between the caliper and alloy not the wheel and hub?
Ahhhh I see, between the rim edge and the caliper. Thought you meant the spokes (what litle spokes the slabs have lol) and the caliper.

Na jack its hitting the inner wheel like on top of the caliper not at the sides? So has anyone ever shaved calipers?

That was the plan mate lol are you being serious though?
i would recommend that you either get some different rims or some different calipers. taking metal off the outer edge of a caliper will weaken it.
Pm 'Andy' as my antibes has V6 brakes up front and runs 15" cesaros and there is plenty of clearance on those but i dont know what theyre actually from though lol

Shaved them loads of times with no problems .
Shaved some 256 and fitted 3 spokes ran it for 12 months with no problems at all just couldnt use stick on balance weights
cesaros
cesaros
slabs
:p lol
Anyways, the reason they're not fitting so well is the caliper shape. Nobby, these are yours, ja (54mm piston)?

The ones that have the better fit are these (57mm piston):

as the body of the caliper curves more than the 54mm piston ones. The 54mm ones were I think only fitted behind 16" wheels from factory...
[edit] I don't have any pics of my brakes behind the slabs so don't know how much clearance there is with them, but can't see there being much difference between them and the cesaros
I ground back some 256'ers for 3spokes, I never had a worry in the limited miles I did
:p lol
