View Full Version : Apple MacBook Pro???
After all my moaning about iPhones the other day, I'm now looking at a replacement laptop/netbook for my oldest lad..
He fancies an Apple MacBook Pro MC700..
Anyone got one or had anything to do with them?
Also, has anyone had anything from the Apple Refurb Store?
I can get a 15" MacBook (refurb) for the same price as the 13" new..
Help.....lol
I've got the 13" macbook, which i got a good discount (being a student)
And cant fault it for the 2 years ive had it, works very quick and efficiently, Only problem i have had is that it compatibility with programs that i needed for my course, that i was entitled to free downloads (solidworks, tunerstudio etc) but thats just bad luck i think.

As said above, student discount is good. My next will be a mac after having my mates for 6months. Never had any problems after I worked out how to use everything (Mac Newbee!!) was a fantastic machine! Well worth the money.
Expensive comapred with an equivalent spec Wintel machine, however they are nicely made and as a 'doing stuff' laptop they tick the right boxes.

He's a bit young for student discount, unfortunately, so I'm prepared to take the hit..
I only know a couple of people who have them, both Apple fanatics, so can't really get an unbiased view there..
Cheers..
Well the main reason for purchasing it is that when i went to the apple store to see about what prices i can get them for, he offered extended warranty for 3 years (for peanuts), which is the duration of my course, and mentioned about the whole virus situation with the macs, which viruses killed my old (custom built) windows computer, so it seem logical to buy it as it ticked all my boxes. And as said before, when i can afford i will be buying a mac desktop to replace my macbook.
If it were a desktop, PC's win hands down and you can get some really well built machines from the likes of Novatech.
However, in terms of a Laptop i wouldn't buy anything other than Apple. They're incredibly well built and hold their value. I've got a oldish Macbook 13", and it's still going strong. Only thing to watch out for are things like the Chargers, leads - they tend to be a bit crap
