Our local force's old cossie, they had two of these iirc and you used to regularly see them getting spanked everywhere chasing after alsorts of stolen motors, till the twoccers figured out that they cost a shedload to repair so used to bait them onto estates and ram them with other stolen cars leaving them in the bodyshop for a couple of months:eek:

Hence the move onto subaru impreza's which they now still run, along with a 400 bhp lexus IS-F!!

Agree ;)

I've loads of those mags, I always loved modified cars of that era, okay some are a bit rank but it's a massive part of when I first started driving and wanting to modify my first Nova, Peter Madien adverts were my favourite on the items I wanted but couldn't afford for it.
Good times

I wonder how many of those cars are still alive, there is bound to be some wrapped up and stashed in a barn somewhere. 90s maxing was cool as fook i reckon. And as been said before, some of those cars would still stand there ground today.

Fast and the Furious ruined all that, after that came out the scene just exploded with junk and rubbish.
Brings back some memories seeing some of that stuff in there.

some proper awesome looking cars on there. Takes me back.

Some of them motors in standard guise would be worth an absolute fortune now.

Also kinda sad as it reminds me of the good old days of cruises etc.

You my friend are more like me then we both realised! lol this was me, i use to buy max back when i was 16 in 1996/7 waiting to turn 17 and use to plan what car's i could/would want and what part to fit from peter madien's sale pages, funny thing is all the cars i wanted was mk4 xr3i's mk3 xr2i's mk1 Clio rs, R5 gt or pug 205 (i actually hatted nova's back then as all the "chavy cunts" as the word chav didn't exist, they all had them so i didn't want one! lol

Looking back at them pics, Ive got lots of old max/fast car mags and i must admit them days were pure class! you wont see times like that again, it all started back in the early 90's and it was killed by the hole jap crap FF **** imo.

Thats why retro is so popular now as everyone hates the jap/kit stuff that left such a bad taste in many a mouth.

Mate, there is no other words to say other than agreed.

I always swore blind I'd never have a nova, now I got two of the damned things.

Some of these cars take me back especially to old school cruises, was a nice read and looking at some of the articles made me laugh too. I spend about 30 minutes yesterday (yes i know sad) checking the DVLA Database for some of the cars. Some are still on the road but many off them have probably been totalled. The blue skyline that's on the front of one of the mags was last taxed in 1996 and was only registered in 1993, short life that had.
