hi there just after some advice. I have quite good mechanical skills and was wondering if any one can give me some advice on how change main bearings on c20let engine. Or would you let some one who knows what there doing replace them?

well, using the haynes book is a best first step.
ideally its an engine out job.. the sump needs removing to gain access to the crank. numbering everything is always a good start.
i'd recommend replacing the oil pump too. and getting the crank checked to see if it needs regrinding.

as above recomend getting the crank checked and measured that way youll be sure the bearings are the exact size you need and if your competent enough to get the engine out and stripped that far youll manage the rest just make sure every thin is spotless and the back of the bearings are dry just oil the white metal side after that is just nuts and bolts
