i was speaking to a mate the other day about this, im just wondering whether there is any point in spinning the (toyo proxes road tyres) tyres before a run? if they are standard road tyres they aint designed for that and it just causes unnecessary wear, where as slicks are better for this?

no point imho.... particularly if you have a standard or ATB Diff, one wheel wheel spins make you look a bender lol

lol, thats what happened last time, just got smoke from one side and i was like eh? lol. now iv got a LSD but still i dont see the point as they wont hold the heat as well as slicks + the fact ill need new tyres every time i go

If its a plate diff then you should be able to get both spinning, but if its a quaiffe then you are sh!t out of luck :p

When me and rich finally got it running decent at york one day we tried a few daft little things as our times were becoming the same every run,let the tyres down, did harsher burnouts etc.
In the end it was just a competition to see who could make the most smoke lol

Right, well personally from my own experience, if you have a quaife diff then you cna get both tyres/wheels spinning, but i have a paddle clutch on mine.

Anyway yes slick/semi's is best and you need to burn out with them to get them sticky.

BUT i tried 1/4 runs with tyres at 16psi no burn outs and i got lots of wheel spin, then with burn outs no wheel spin, so IMO you DO them mate.

with burout (http://www.youtube.com/user/scottparker80#p/u/4/hrwiOXTwhRE) on kumho road tyres.
