I have a 1.3SR its got a weber 32/34 on it, i was wondering if there are any different types of this carb. Or is there just 1 type of 32/34. I am having trouble finding an airfilter for it :? Does anyone else have a 1.3SR with a weber 32/34 and has found an airfilter that fits? Where did u buy it from, what make is it? I don't wanna drive it like it is :? All its got is a little box thingy that has no element, and isn't designed for one.

yep piperx and k&n do them. u might need to take the box u refer to off?

got any pics? u shud be able to see the buterfly valves on the top of the carb, and then a couple of screw holes around the outside at the top of carb? a plate mounts on this, then the filter ontop of the plate

you want a base plate for the 32/34 and the filter itself - codes are rs2,239 with 40mm filter top (the foam bit)

ramair have a website - think its ramair-filters.com - could be .co.uk and could be less the minus sign. do search on google.

Look under weber 32/34 - gives you the various makes

Make sure 40mm filter top as any higher will hit bonnet

what sorta performance am i looking at, if setup properly, and a performance back box?

what sorta performance am i looking at, if setup properly, and a performance back box?

well as a comparison use this

on a book figure of 82BHP engine. i saw 93BHP with a mongoose stainless steel exhaust system, weber 32 34 and a janspeed 4 branch manifold.

so with them mods i got 11 BHP

I take it thats a 1.4SR then?

I take it thats a 1.4SR then?

nope it was a carbed 1.6 engine, with a VERY cr@p head, more restrictive than anything ive ever known to man, shouldda seen the size of the ports! it was similar in characteristics (square ports etc etc) as a 1.4SR and also it had a VERY shit cam in, the astra or cav? car it came from was not a sporty model, engine code 16SV and the cam is as flat as your nans t!ts. the engine was built for economy for performance.

so i whacked on some twin 40s, put in a kent ast2 cam. B+ head.

then the bottom end went  it was weak to start with though. just novas knew it. and gave me a replacement bottom end.

thats a cavvy carb top box and its prolly been fitted because the original airbox wouldve hit the bonnet

you could just do what ive done and fit a cone filter to the end of it/its pipe

what is there at the moment out of interest? a nova sri box or summat?

yup - the 32/34 just refers to the throttle plate size

aragorn i got a similar one to that but it doesnt need the adapter plate fitting so will sit closer to the carb. it also has a loverly breather hose connection too :)
i will post a pic when i get a chance

will the difference in type affect performance??

Most people don't get the full benefits of a 32/34 coz they dont match the manifold to the carb. You need to enlarge the manifold entance to match the carb size otherwise the restriction is still there. You can also modify the butterflies, and a simple ram pipe setup would also help.

how do i go about matching the manifold? is it best to take it somehwhere to be done?

MC

Yeah, prob best done by someone with the right tools.

CP is an expert at porting and matching!

the new novaload competition is to find out what its off ;)

or i could sell you this one for ?100 :)

Aragorn

aint vaux

we need to find cars that had them fitted as standard since thats the only kinda car thats gonna have a box like that specially made for the carb

rgv_stu
30-06-03, 01:20 PM
aragorns on the right lines :)
it is a factory fit item and its not vauxhall
first clue is that it aint off a landrover which was the only vehicle with a 32/34dmtl as standard ;)

any guesses yet

http://www.novaload.net/forums/album_see.php?id=822 This is a pic i found in the album submiited by snowface, is this machined for a 32/34 weber? if so howe did u do it or where did u get it done? :?

Will

so u wud be selling that manifold then? if so how much u want for it?

rgv_stu
01-07-03, 10:04 AM
i did that manifold and will (novanutter) bought it job lot with the weber i had

its a normal manifold with weber adapter plate on and then ground out to suit.

SKoob
01-07-03, 12:24 PM
so what tools did u use? :? what diff in perfromance does a machined inlet manifold have?

rgv_stu
01-07-03, 12:56 PM
a burr and a die grinder

if you just fit the weber adapter you are still in effect flowing thru the same ports as the pierburg did summot like 26/28mm so by opening out the manifold you can make more use of the 32/34 mm weber throttle openings. what i have done is much better but not perfect as the manifold could do to be a bit bigger. there is still a step at the front of the carb adapter although i have smoothed it as best i could
