Bottom ends are almost identical though.

Makes no difference anyway - unless its highly modified all (petrol) GM engines from '89 - 2000 run on the same stuff!

Didnt know this thats why and it was 16v nor 8v never mind thanks anyway

the cost....

basically, i agree with stu. these old engines will run fine on 15w-40 or 15w-50.
synthetic is needed for super low emissions on new cars, and also they love extended service intervals up to 12k.. now a c16se does not.
