Just wondered if any one can tell me how hard it is to convert a mk1 front end to mk2. And what parts are needed. Cheers Karl

well, if you must..... you need the mk2 wings, grille, lights & bumper. then i think you re-use the mk1 bumper iron.

but think of it like this...

mk1.........................................mk2

Wings
Grill
Headlights
Indicators
Headlight retaining clips
Bumper
Reinforcing bar + L-brackets
Ideally a Mk2 slam panel, or cut holes for the grill in your Mk1 panel if you don't already have them. Or just cut the lugs off the grill and screw it on lol
And if you want to be reeeaaaally pedantic, a Mk2 bonnet lol

Exterior styling is each to their own, but I prefer a nice Mk2 outside. Inside though, Mk2 all the way. Mk1 dash is a proven cancer risk lol

Waste of money imo, you want what you don't have, which is why i want a white mk1lol

Mk1 ftw. On my first mk1 saloon I had a ml 2 bumper that looked ok. But I seen sense lol.

jesus let the lad do what he wants with his car christ he asked what was needed and how hard it was not for a blugoning, get it mk2'd mate as said you will need wings lights bumpers grill for the front, bumper for the rear and spoiler if one is fitted as for the inside if pov spec dash doorcards and seats

Why buy a Mk1 if you don't like them? Not trying to criticise pal but its a fair question...

Because changing panels, trim, engines etc is relatively easy - so its better to buy the best condition shell going then configure it however you want.

It would be better to buy a solid Mk1 and convert it to a Mk2 spec than to buy a Mk2 thats about to fall apart. Unless you're a purist and want the correct VIN plate on there, but meh.

Mk1 to mk2 is like driving a Ford, something you should never ever do

Old school fords are one of the coolest collection of cars on the road hence why there worth loads more, if it come down to driving a rs1600i or a nova sport i know what i would drive, but each to there own

mk1 shells are meant to be cleaner but mk2s are much better looking imo
