1600 8v spi and mpi

What is the difference apart from the inlet is there any other bits that a different ? basiclly can i put a gsi inlet on a spi engine ??

spi is square port on the inlet and the gsi is round

Thats a cathedral port one isnt it? You will be better off swapping the head for a 1600se, theres plenty of them about IIRC the valves are bigger than the ones in a spi head too. I made a 1300 inlet work on a 1600se head by changing the port shapes.

If you had a GSi head and inlet you wouldn't need to match anything
