Where abouts in the tank does the anti spill ball thing go in the tank is it in the plastic cage or just float about in tank

it is possible thru the sender hole. i actually fed some stiff fencing wire down the filler hole & taped the ball to it, and got it back in place, but it was a fiddle. i think you can simply remove the plastic cage thing from the neck & then refit it.
