Degreaser and elbow grease.

I personally prefer a product called "Gunk" which is very good at removing Engine bay grime.

^^^^

All of that, but better still, pop the engine out so you don't miss any...

TRF (traffic film remover) is the best nothing better than that

I usually buy a 5 litre tin of de greaser from my parts place and use a spray bottle and spray everything then use a brush that comes with a dustpan and brush everything leave it sitting for a bit then hose it down

Repeat until clean :)

Remember to conniver up your electric stuff with a carrier bag and tape

They sell TFR in Motex, near Brentwood road in Romford. Thats what I use, then work it in with a brush, leave a while, jet wash off.

Petrol is good but highly flammable and very expensive at £1.30 odd a litre lol

Good products, a methodical approach & proper elbow grease.
Get some cheap tooth brushes from a £shop or similar. Likewise haVE pipe cleaners, sponges & clean rags at the ready.

Just a warning though, if you are going to degrease it with Gunk or similar, think about the driveway or ground under the car. Depending on what (maybe) your parents drive is like, they might not appreciate a massive, stinking, oil stain on it

If you do get any on the drive then brake cleaner and cat litter is good to use.

lol think my parents still have oil stains on the drive from my degreasing lol i moved out 8 years ago as well lol

Do it whilst parked on grass, grass grows back, driveways have to be dug up lol

I got sold the wrong oil filter for my old Sport, lasted a week before it worked loose and dropped off whilst reversing up my mum and dads drive.
There was a nice long oil stain line going to a puddle at the top on the slabs until they replaced the drive a couple of years ago.

Brake and Clutch cleaner is good too.

Tis what we used to use to clean the Engine bays of Race + Rally cars because it's extremely good, but alot cheaper than products such as gunk etc
