The fuel pumps are prone to fail and put the car into limp mode, other than that they are a pretty good engine in a pretty ordinary car lol

He said DTi, not TD ;)
My DTi does 28mpg at worst and 58mpg at best.
tbh would imagine all the fuel pump issues should be resolved by now as the original ones had a major defect in them and the 2nd gen's were fixed.

ive got the 2.2 dti sri comes with loads of extra's and does an average of 49mpg and its an estate so weighs more then most with mostly around town driving :thumb:
plus if i add a tuning box it'll take it to 164bhp and 337nm of torque and inprove the fuel efficency by 4-6mpg ;)
ive heard abit about fuel pumps going (on the internet) but from the people i actually know thats had them i know of none going. out of the millions that were produced the ones your most likely to hear about are the ones on the internet and that isn't alot in the big picture
On the contary going back five ish years ago I was buying a couple a week with knackered pumps
yep the fuel pump is a big problem on these, as are injector seals and leak off pipes and afm's.
i get 50ish to a gallon, have done getting onto 50k now over 2 and half years and havnt had any engine problems. EGR gets a bit sticky now and then but there easy to take off and clean.
injector seals are another known fault. mine doesnt always start correctly, takes quite a few times winding over and eventually starts. glow plugs dont come in if its above 3deg C.
look out for corroded brake pipes which they all suffer with around the rear. rear rose bushes do go also but easy enough to change.
