View Full Version : Anodising for Aluminium

I'm sure the bulk of people will know what it is, so I won't go into a Chemistry lesson here. Google it if you're not sure.

Over the years I've had loads of alloy bits anodised for my cars, but since I moved up to Lincolnshire I couldn't find anyone to do it for me.

So yesterday I invested in all the kit to do it myself.

It's going to be a bit of a learning curve, as I've never done any before!

If it all goes well I intend to offer PNG people an anodising service. Initially I have the 4 main colours available (red, blue, black, gold), but I can get lots of other colours too.

Sounds like a good little possible sideline Colin. Bet the missus won't be happy when she can't find the food colouring though! lol

you should have a look at this thread *runs off to find it* the guy does the whole process and goes through what he did etc. including the etching and other shizzle.

Thanks for that, a useful quick guide, although he's missed out all the details of the process for cleaning parts in the first place (Nitric acid), using de-ionised water in the anodising tank, and using a proper sealing chemical at the end (rather than just boiling water).
