View Full Version : Changing a clutch
Going to attempt changing my clutch on the nova in the next few days, never done this before its the first time.
Any tips or info I need to know before I start?
F18 gearbox is whats on now.
Cheers
does it have an access plate.
if so your onto a good one.
if not then its a gearbox out jobbie lol.
remove the input shaft via end casing with a spline bit.
other then that its pretty simple :)
Going to take gearbox off anyway because I'm changing the diff
probably easier to drop the engine out tbf, but I cba to disconnect all the wires lol

spline bit is not needed an old clutch cabel fits fine and does the job
Took gearbox off today and old clutch.
I've heard you need to line up the clutch with the flywheel, how do you do this?

you need to line up the clutch with the cover plate, you can do this by eye or buy a tool from halfords (motor factors will be closed over the weekend, maybe open saturday?)
the bolt holes on the cover plate are slightly out of line so you have to rotate till all holes line up :)

You can use a socket extension bar to line them up - its only to get it summat like so the input shaft goes into the friction plate when you refit the gearbox
