any 1 no what vauxhall come with cable operated gears that io can rip out to use on my rwd must have verly longs reach
some1 said mk4 astra but yet to look
or has any 1 got the lot for sale?????
Mk5 astra's do,cant remember if mk4's do
Mondeo mk1 are pretty long
As said Mk5s do. Can you not get the gear stick set in position and cables at gearbox end, measure how long you need them & get some made.
F23 as used in the VX220.... Cables are about £150ish from Tuthill controls and they will make them ANY length you want.
f23 is on the Astra mk4 1.8 Sri aswell isnt it??
ouch, thats expensive. the ones on hiab cranes are a lot less than that..
All you want is the attachment ball joint bit for the selector and make some yourself.

yes its just finding that end that can be fixed back on made 1 way cant be reused just thinking it would be easry to make 1 of a nother fit

That is for a pair, and GM wanted £250+vat+delivery+3months lead for ONE lol
I got the cables much cheaper than the £150 as I had the first set made etc
i'm thinking of these (http://www.rdb93.co.uk/gear_change_cable.htm) things (http://www.marinescene.co.uk/category/795/teleflex-33c-red-jacket-midrange-control-cables).....how much different are the gm gearbox ones?
Not very, just the machined ferrule for holding the cable on the box, but if I was able to make one on a lathe with barely any tooling then anyone can lol
so its typical profiteering from gm then....
I think its more 'typical GM being screwed around by VX220 parts suppliers who make dire quality parts'.... Smiths have rarely made good robust cables lol
ah. its funny that we have tractors, diggers & cranes that use non-maintenance, sealed type control cables that last for 10-15 years of all day, every day useage, and rarely fail, yet they appear to cobble something up for the vx220.

chip off MIGWEB runs a cable-linakge/shifter in his rear engine'd saab powered nova. Apparently though it took him months to get it right/setup.

Hi.
I have a complete cable shifter arrangement from an astra j (2010) if your interested. Approx 1200mm from centre of gear stick to cable ends if that helps.
I was planning to convert my rally nova (X14XE, F15 Quaife SCCR) to cable shift but used the quaife direct rod jobby instead.
Have the shifter, both cables, etc.
The turret from an astra j (1.6 petrol) & some Merivas can be used to convert the small block F13/15/16 gearboxes to cable operated.
Looking for £60 posted. PM me if interested.

Probably because they are made right for a sensible price.
