View Full Version : Nova First Car, Rally Rep Project -Lots of Pics-
Hi all, im new here but ive been on a few other forums the last few years. i may make a thread to introduce myself but this might be enough.
im 20, live in surrey and studied motorsport mechanics, repair and maintanece at collage. Im really into my fords and i always thought i would have a fiesta as a first car but when this came up i couldent say no lol.
Heres my 1984 MK1 1.0 nova, my first car.
Bought it for 300 quid from a mate and its got 47k on the clock (confirmed) absolutely solid shell and sweet running engine.
the car was totaly standard when i got it apart from two nackerd front shocks. a leaking front passenger headlight. a missing passenger wing mirror and a few marks in the paint.
oh and a hiddious stripe around the bottom of the car which was brush painted on by an old owner in some attempt to protect the sills. to be fair, it worked as there solid as a rock.
wont let me post pictures as i havent made 15 posts on PNG :(
Sounds good looking forward to pics :thumb:

what are the plans then..?
Its got coilovers at the moment, future plans include a x18xe on custom slide plate throttles with side exit exhaust and the proper rally style mud flaps that are about 12" wide lol. Poly windows are going in as well as a custom in car adjustable rear anti roll bar.

Sounds like it will be a good project, if your bank account can match your ambitions lol
lol, i know how it sounds. but its going to be a long termer. insurrance just raped me 400 quid for just my coilovers so im going to gather parts ready for my renewal in 9 months time. hopefully then i'll find a more mod-friendly insurrance provider.

Aye, wait til you're 21 and a lot of modified car insurance specialists will start offering quotes...don't expect them to be cheap though!!

seen better days but a good solid base i suppose, what you got planned for it engine wise?
well i stripped it out 3 days after i got it.

plans engine wise are to keep the 1.0 at the moment. im going to build up a x18xe1 for it over this year ready for when i renew my insurance with a more mod-freindly insurance provider
then i gave the car a good clean and polish inside and out

Cool...I want an early beige Nova :d
looks loads better, it wants the bumper sorting tho!
Looks solid in the engine bay, nice shell to start with!
well, after i got it i did a few photoshops and decided to cover the brown DIY underseal with some satin black as a cheap fix and also did the bumpers, and triangles behind the lights.

my vote would have gone on buffing/sanding that brown stuff down/back
then getting it repainted in the beige. In some pics its look like it was coming off anyway, revealing some beige underneath..?
fitted coilovers;
