Plastic welding... Any tips??

Stripped my new bike down today and the fairings are cracked in a fair few places...

Anyways iv decided I'm going to repair the cracks with plastic and respray all the fairings.

Anyone plastic welded before? I'm gonna buy an adapter from eBay and have a go at it just wanting some tips if anyone has any??
