Free play in inner CV joint

22 spline shafts, standard brand new outers and "big block" conversion inner CVs.

I can rotate the wheel which in turn immediately rotates the shaft, but there's a few mm of play before the inner CV joint actually moves. So I can wiggle it back and forth and not move the inner CV/diff.

Is this OK for an inner CV or should I be looking to replace them?

I think this is normal, same as the side to side play you get in them when theyre off the car, shocked me a touch when i picked up mine lol

if they didnt have a little bit of play they wouldnt move and break easily

mines the same i turn the wheeland the driveshaft wont turn till a mm has been reached, but when i do turn them hard the inner cv joints move side to side which is worrying thinking bearings in my f16 are gone. cant think why though not like a rag the tits off of it.... :D
